Sharjah Outdoor Activities – Travel Sharjah in the UAE!

Welcome to my blog! I’m Amreen. I’ve been a travel blogger for a year now, and when COVID-19 hit, I had to travel within my own country which is the United Arab Emirates (UAE). I’ve visited different emirates to showcase what my beautiful country has to offer. In this blog and corresponding VLOG, I explore Kalba and the Khorfakkan region. Are you looking for Sharjah outdoor activities? Remember, Sharjah is the largest emirate of the United Arab Emirates, so there are lots to see and do. Keep reading to explore things to do in the Sharjah region of the UAE. If you’re into eco-tourism, the Sharjah region is a sure hit. Enjoy trekking, kayaking, scuba diving and more.

Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Center, Kalba

Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Center

This is where you go if you want to see natural, UAE wildlife. The Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Center in Kalba is home to 13 mountain and desert species that are native to the desert. This is the only indoor exhibit with animals snakes, lizards, and much more! It’s very possible to come here for a day trip from Dubai. During our visit, we tried to find the Leppard but were unsuccessful. Maybe you’ll be lucky! The conservation area opens at 2 pm on Friday. If you’re looking to enjoy one of the many Sharjah outdoor activities, don’t skip the Al Hefaiyah Mountain Conservation Center.

Kalba Lake

The Kalba lake lies on the border of Oman. Here, enjoy a vast amount of nature reserves. If you want to see Arabian wildlife, this is where you want to come! Around Kalba lake, there are some fun and delicious food trucks, and places to rent bicycles. During our time here, we chilled, relaxed and enjoyed the gorgeous Arabian sunset. This is one of the nicest Sharjah outdoor activities. Plus, it’s free to explore around Kalba lake.

Najd Al Maqsar, Khorfakkan

I highly suggest climbing to the top to see spectacular views! It’s very hot here with hardly any wind, but this Sharjah outdoor activity is amazing.

Fun Fact – The ruler of Sharjah inaugurated Najd Al Maqsar in 2020 to preserve the environment and revive the old culture. The village has 13 old houses that date back almost a century. The village is located in Khorfakkan, not in the city of Kalba, but still in Sharjah.

Old Souq, Sharjah (Khorfakkan)

In the Old Souq, Sharjah, historical buildings have been reconstructed recently to promote the ancient history of the region. There is a nice air conditioning area with many restaurants to enjoy Arabian food, deserts and chai! Be sure to check out the Al Rabi Tower, the Crafts Museum and the beach area. There is always something new and exciting to visit in the Old Souq.

Eco-Friendly City – Kalba

From Kalba, we were trying to find the secret beach, or called “heart beach”. We found an opening through a fence off the main road to get to the secret beach. Finally, after quite a walk, we discovered the heart beach! Keep reading this blog as in my 2 part VLOG series, I finally find the right way to access the secret beach!

Rafisah Dam – Kayaking

On Valentine’s day in 2021, we headed to the Rafisah Dam for a Kayaking trip and fed some ducks. It’s a beautiful place and the water surely helps to cool us down on a hot Arabian day! Kayaking cost 30 dirhams for 30 minutes, so approximately 8$ USD. But, here’s a tip – if you visit during the weekday, you can spend a little bit more time with your kayak!

Khorfakkan Beach

Sharjah Outdoor Activities khorfakkan waterfall

Then we carried on to Khorfakkan corniche/Khorfakkan Beach for lunch. It was the most romantic spot we could find. It was sheer luck. We had no idea, we were going to have a meal on the beach itself. After that, we made a swift stop to marvel at the gorgeous Khorfakkan Waterfalls. It’s 43 m above sea level and was inaugurated in 2020. Even during a pandemic, the UAE did not stop! The waterfalls are located on the main road itself. It is possible to view it from anywhere along the coast of Khorfakkan.

Heart Beach – 30 Minutes Away from Fujairah.

Sharjah Outdoor Activities hidden heart beach

Moving along, we decided to spend the sunset by the beach nobody knows about. It is called the Heart beach, also known as the secret beach of UAE. It took a bit of a light hike up and down the mountain to get to this secluded beach. The water was insanely cold but the fact that it was just two of us there, made it worthwhile. I must warn you that there are no cars allowed there. No signs that lead to it. No route, no map, no guide, no toilets, nothing. You have to be prepared if you wish to visit this beach. This beach, like everything else, is just 30 minutes away from Fujairah. When exploring the many Sharjah Outdoor Activities, I highly recommend making your way to the private heart beach.

And, the end of my vlog, see Oman!
